Failure Analysis

We have evaluated thousands of fractures including fatigue, SCC, overload, corrosion fatigue and creep.

Special part evaluations are available including lamp filaments, medical devices/tools, electrical wiring, etc.

We routinely evaluate fractures involving welds.  This includes sectioning and documentation of the weld geometry.

All corrosion types have been evaluated.

Fractography is generally used in support of the failure analysis evaluations.  Our SEM is capable of very high magnification with digital photography and labelling.

The evaluation of assemblies that do not perform as designed.  This type of failure analysis may not include an actual fracture but is often the result of wear, contamination, poor machining, improper fit, etc.
